How To Reduce 11GB Installation Size: What You Need
Follow the procedures step by step and do not jump any steps.
1. Download Compactor
Before you begin, you need to get the Compactor tool from GitHub. Here's the link to download it. This tool majorly compresses your game files.
2. Select your Game Folder
Now that you have gotten the Compactor, open it and look for the folder where your game files are stored. In case you missed it, this guide My Time At Sandrock Save File Location will help you find its location.
3. Analyze and Compress
Allow the compactor to do its thing by analyzing every file in your game folder. Mind you, this might take a little, especially since I found out the game has lots of files. Once the analysis is complete, hit the "Compress" button.
4. Wait for Compression
You need extra patience while going through this process because my SSD laptop took over 15 minutes. Every compactor's speed depends on how fast your disk works.
Results
Here is what I observed after running the process on the v1.0 release of the game
- The game size has reduced massively, it went down from 37.01 GB to 25.80 GB.
- With this process, I was able to save over 11GB+ which is about 30% of the game size.
Some Important Notes
Compatibilty: I can't guarantee that this will work on older systems but trust me when I say it works perfectly on both Windows 10 and 11.
Performance: Due to the efficient compression algorithm, you will not encounter issues with its performance.
Keep an eye on Modifications: Whenever you update the game files, you will need to uncompress and then follow the process again to maintain your space as usual.
I know that this process might be time-consuming but if you are running low on disk space and you love this game that much, then it is worth the stress.
